The weather is FINALLY cooling off here in the desert!  Today the high is supposed to be about 90 degrees.  This made for a perfect morning to go to the zoo!!  My friend Tina has a zoo membership, so we got in with her.  We saw animals, watched an Animal Training 101 show, and played on the toddler splash pad.  After a picnic lunch, it was back home for naps.  Tailynn and Sophia (the other blond girl in the photos) had a great time!!  We also met Tina’s friend, Julie, who is a veterinarian for the zoo.  She came and sat with us for a few minutes while we ate our lunch.  One of the Komodo dragons arrived at the zoo last night!!  The new exhibit is almost up and running, but the dragon will have to stay in quarantine for four weeks before he can go on display.  The exhibit is set to open somewhere around 11/11.  They are also building a Tiger experience, and a dozen other projects!  It will be so exciting to see when all of the projects are finished!  Here are pictures from our trip today!

Hennessey wanted to sit up last night, but didn’t want any toys to play with.  Instead, she preffered to hang on to the tub of wipes.  She finally sat up long enough for me to snap pictures. Yay Hennessey!

Let your daughter carry the kibble.  Then the dogs knock it out of her hand and start woofing down the kibbles on the floor.  And one gets stuck under the fridge.  Dogs spend the next hour or so trying to get it out.  And then every time they walk past the fridge, they spend a few more minutes trying.  THAT is how you keep a lab puppy busy!

Tailynn got a brand new stick horse last night, AND SHE LOVES IT!  Of course, his name is Spirit.  She’s been making him do all sorts of tricks this morning.  Here are a few pictures of her and her newest pal.

Today, at my Mom’s house, Tailynn tripped and the puppies were licking her all over. We pulled the dogs off, and she ran to safety. I was walking her down the hall and she said “puppies bite.” I replied “no, the puppies weren’t biting.” so she ammended her statement declaring “puppies lick EYEBALL!!!” I could hear my mom cracking up from the kitchen… :)

Today we went to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix with our friends T, S, E, C, and A.  :)   We had a Culture Pass which admitted four of us, and the babies were free, so only one admission was purchased!  Not bad for $9.

Tailynn and her friend, S, had a fabulous time romping around the museum.  They were even filmed and may be part of a commercial for the Museum!  How cool is that?!?  If one of them does make it in, I’ll totally get it posted here.

Hennessey did a great job just chillaxin’, mostly on my back in a sling.  Thank you, God, for the invention of Mai Tais!

Click on the picture to see more from today! Enjoy!

Well, so far the blog doesn’t say much.  So I thought I’d plump it up with a few various tidbits.

Right now there are 8 or 9 different kinds of beer in various fermenting stages in two closests of our home.  We’ve got a beer blog over at homebruheaven.blogspot.com.  Check it out!

I’ve been a busy bee this fall.  We ordered a case of apples and peaches, and got in a co-op basket a bunch of pears, and strawberries were cheap at the ol’ grocery store one week.  So I’ve made and canned:
Strawberry jam
Peach Jelly
Pear Jelly
Peaches
Peach butter
and Applesauce
Oh!  And I also have canned chicken!  I’ve never actually EVER eaten chicken out of a can (it kinda freaks me out).  BUT I decided to give it a try.  I made six jars, each holding about a pound of chicken.  They processed okay in the pressure canner I borrowed.  The seals stayed nice and tight.  Then we popped one open last week to make Chicken Enchiladas…. AND THEY WERE FABULOUS!!  The meat tasted GREAT!  I think I’ll be borrowing the canner to do another set of chicken before too long.  But first I have to find a few more recipes that use precooked chicken…

The girls are doing alright.  Hennessey hasn’t been sleeping well at night, but tomorrow we visit the doctor, so we’ll have her checked out.  Tailynn is growing up so quickly!  She’s talking in more complete sentences, and has the BEST manners!  She’ll look you right in the eyes and ask for somthing and add her “pweeeeease?” and you’ll just melt!  It wins her dad over every time! :D   She also loves to sing and dance, and I think we’ve watched Mamma Mia! about a hundred times!

Well, tis getting late and I’d best rest while Hennessey is sleeping!

Hennessey learned to sit by herself today!! She sits with a nice straight back. I tried to snap a photo but she faceplanted into the carpet. I did get a quick video that I hope to have up this weekend. Yay Hennessey!!!

Also, congrats to my niece for swimming in her last high school meet! You rock, E!!
