I’m a sucker for fudge.
I love the stuff, so we made some.
Tailynn helped.

I don’t like walnuts, so we used pecans.
I prepped and cooked.

Fudge cups are AWESOME!

Accidents like the one above are devoured. It was delicious.

Finding a spot for the tree in our house is a constant battle.
Year 1 – We had little furniture, and so it was easy to place in the front window.
Year 2 – New furniture, which we dismantled (a sectional couch) and stored in the back room. HUGE pain!
Year 3 – We weren’t home for Christmas, no tree was put up.
Year 4 – We were clearing out the office to become Tailynn’s new bedroom. Used that room for the tree! Worked great, we could shut the door….shortly after Christmas, Tailynn moved in. No longer an option.
Year 5 – That brings us to this year. We could dismantle the couch again, but it was so difficult, and we don’t have a “back room” so now it would have to go in the garage… So instead, I took down our book shelf and we have it there. You only have to go a *little* out of your way to get to the kitchen….;) Here are a few tree trimming and fun with santa hat photos!
Yes, I realize it’s almost Thanksgiving, but better late than never, right?
Here are some pictures of the girls (and friend, S) in their costumes. Well, first are a few pictures of a hot dog costume. One of the moms in group bought it for their dog, and the costume was too big. So she ‘donated’ it to group. No one took it, so we put it on one of my mom’s puppies (who looks seriously displeased with that decision). We strapped it on Tailynn, too, just to see how it looked. Maybe next year she’ll be a hot dog!
Tailynn was (obviously) a lion. Hennessey was a pirate. Sorta. She had on the bandanna, a white onesie with a kitty-pirate glitter skull and crossbones, and a red and black tutu. Very “pirate-ish,” right? Isn’t that what little baby pirates wore? I was going to try and rig a parrot to her shoulder, but sadly didn’t get that far. I couldn’t find the right size parrot. Enjoy!
1) We highly recommend the Fromage Fort that Alton Brown had in one of his episode entitled “Say Cheese.” We had a variety of about six different kinds of cheese and it was like heaven on a cracker. We used Gruyere, Gouda, Edam, Havarti, Sharp Cheddar, and a general unnamed white farmer’s cheese. Mmmmm-mmm! Tailynn, a usual conessiour of cheese, was up for a taste, which was promptly decleared gross, and was spit back out. Must’ve been the wine…
2) Hennessey still has no teeth, but she’s getting there! She HAS been sleeping a lot of hours at night, though, which has been a great break. I think some crawling may be on the horizon soon, too.
3) Deep fryer is busted, so we cannot partake of the wonders of a fried turkey this year. I’ve still got one thing to try on it, but I’m not real hopeful.
4) Tailynn is lil’ miss “No! I do it!!” these days. In the car, out of the car, pulling panties up….you name it, she wants to do it herself! Thankfully she DOES successfully do most things by herself!
Hmmm….that’s all for now. Still haven’t downloaded pictures recently, so keep an eye out!
We are back up and running! Pictures and stories to follow in the next few days!!
The weather is FINALLY cooling off here in the desert! Today the high is supposed to be about 90 degrees. This made for a perfect morning to go to the zoo!! My friend Tina has a zoo membership, so we got in with her. We saw animals, watched an Animal Training 101 show, and played on the toddler splash pad. After a picnic lunch, it was back home for naps. Tailynn and Sophia (the other blond girl in the photos) had a great time!! We also met Tina’s friend, Julie, who is a veterinarian for the zoo. She came and sat with us for a few minutes while we ate our lunch. One of the Komodo dragons arrived at the zoo last night!! The new exhibit is almost up and running, but the dragon will have to stay in quarantine for four weeks before he can go on display. The exhibit is set to open somewhere around 11/11. They are also building a Tiger experience, and a dozen other projects! It will be so exciting to see when all of the projects are finished! Here are pictures from our trip today!
Hennessey wanted to sit up last night, but didn’t want any toys to play with. Instead, she preffered to hang on to the tub of wipes. She finally sat up long enough for me to snap pictures. Yay Hennessey!
Let your daughter carry the kibble. Then the dogs knock it out of her hand and start woofing down the kibbles on the floor. And one gets stuck under the fridge. Dogs spend the next hour or so trying to get it out. And then every time they walk past the fridge, they spend a few more minutes trying. THAT is how you keep a lab puppy busy!
Tailynn got a brand new stick horse last night, AND SHE LOVES IT! Of course, his name is Spirit. She’s been making him do all sorts of tricks this morning. Here are a few pictures of her and her newest pal.
Today, at my Mom’s house, Tailynn tripped and the puppies were licking her all over. We pulled the dogs off, and she ran to safety. I was walking her down the hall and she said “puppies bite.” I replied “no, the puppies weren’t biting.” so she ammended her statement declaring “puppies lick EYEBALL!!!” I could hear my mom cracking up from the kitchen…
